Services / Generative AI

Generative AI starts with the business process.

The business question — not the tool — determines where AI can contribute. NorthBridge brings business value, delivery feasibility and accountability together in an evidence-led decision.

AI in advisory & service delivery

Applied where it adds value. Professional judgement where it matters.

NorthBridge does not sell an AI product. We use generative AI within our own advisory and service delivery and help organisations assess proposed applications and business cases through the lens of their operations.

Generative AI can accelerate research, structure information, compare options and prepare decisions. It creates value only when the output is suitable for the process, the available evidence and the responsibilities within the organisation.

We therefore consider an AI question alongside architecture, data, working practices, security, privacy and governance. NorthBridge tests the output, interprets its significance and advises on a proportionate next step.

Business case & value

Start with the improvement the business needs.

A credible AI business case does not start with available features. It starts with a recognisable process, a desired improvement and an agreed measure of success. We also compare AI with simpler alternatives.

Business need & process

Which activity, handover or decision needs to improve? We identify who performs the work, where the process currently falls short and what outcome is genuinely required.

Value & measures

Value may lie in quality, cycle time, consistency, capacity or better decision preparation. We translate that into testable outcomes and acceptance criteria.

Alternatives & whole-life cost

Generative AI is not automatically the best answer. We compare process change, conventional automation and existing capabilities, including implementation, operations, oversight and change effort.

Delivery & operating fit

Data, architecture, integrations, suppliers, people and working agreements determine whether an application will hold up beyond a demonstration.

Decision-making

Not AI for its own sake. An evidence-led choice.

Do not proceed

Where the problem, evidence or expected value is too weak, stopping is a valid and useful conclusion.

Run a bounded trial

A controlled trial tests assumptions, output quality and operating fit without committing to broad adoption.

Adopt with intent

A responsible route into use emerges only when value, decision rights and residual risk are sufficiently clear.

Governance & assurance

Control starts before anyone relies on an output.

Governance is not a final layer added after a successful trial. Purpose, accountable ownership, data use, assurance and decision rights must be explicit from the outset.

The client retains decision-making authority. NorthBridge may take operational decisions only under an explicit delivery or service-management mandate and within the agreed boundaries.

AI output is never, by itself, evidence, legal opinion or a definitive security assessment. As potential impact increases, stronger sources, specialist review, traceability and effective human oversight are required.

From policy intent to workable assurance.

  1. Define purpose and accountable ownership

We establish what the application is for, who owns the process and system, and who may accept or reject an output.

  2. Set boundaries for data and access

We determine which information may be used, where processing occurs and what access controls, logging and supplier arrangements are required.

  3. Test outputs in context

Assurance reflects the intended use. We assess accuracy, traceability, material failure scenarios and the consequences of an incorrect output.

  4. Make human oversight effective

Oversight works only when reviewers have sufficient information, expertise, time and authority to challenge or intervene.

  5. Monitor, change and reconsider

Use, exceptions, changes and residual risk are kept under review. If value or control deteriorates, adapting or stopping must remain possible.

Our own working practice

AI supports the work. NorthBridge remains accountable.

We use generative AI to support research, structuring, comparison and preparation within our advisory and service delivery.

We do not adopt the output without review. We check relevant sources and assumptions, connect the information to the business context and decide whether the conclusion is suitable for its intended purpose.

This allows us to use speed and analytical support without outsourcing professional responsibility. The adviser remains accountable for the interpretation and advice provided.

Recognised points of reference

AI governance should connect to demonstrable organisational control.

Depending on the application and risk, we draw on public and internationally recognised frameworks. They support a consistent assessment; they do not in themselves constitute a statement of compliance or certification.

Frequently asked questions

Generative AI requires business, operational and technical rigour.

The right first step is often not purchasing a tool, but defining the business question carefully.

Does NorthBridge sell an AI product?

No. We use generative AI within our own services and advise organisations on applications and business cases. The business process and intended value remain the starting point.

Can you assess an AI business case?

Yes. We connect process value, users, data, architecture, cost, security, privacy and governance, revealing whether an application is worthwhile, feasible and controllable.

Does AI make the final decision?

No. AI can support analysis and preparation. An identifiable accountable person validates the information and retains decision-making authority.

Bring value, feasibility and accountability together first.
